12

Twelve gone.

Four on the ground. Eight in the sky.

Twelve.

Many more are lost all over the world.

I fear I'm loosing one more at home.

I've never seen him so upset.

Upset doesn't even begin to touch it.

At least he's sleeping now.

I wonder if I will.

Former USAF guy here...I know it's frustrating, concerning, and heartbreaking. Just be there for him with an open ear when he needs to talk. Talking helps, but, forcing him to talk about it will only raise the stress level, IMO. Just make it clear you are there for him if he needs to talk and touch him (hold hands, stroke hair, shoulder, etc.) as you tell him this. Sometimes the physical contact is enough to jar a person into a more acute state of conscious.

And openly talk about not transferring this stress to other parts of your lives. Military couples are quick to do this, unfortunately, and it causes tension in totally unrelated parts of the relationship. Be conscious of trying not to do this. Spilt milk is just spilt milk, not people dieing for a cause they may or may not believe in.

Another thing...I know it's almost impossible to do this when you know people over there, but just because you own a TV doesn't mean you have to turn it on. Take a break. If you can, get outside and do anything away from the military. I know, tough to do in SD with all those uniforms, but think of something!

Best of luck to you both and your loved ones over there! *hug*
